The protective shields must always be in place when using the Vector Pro. If your sheild(s) have been scratched or hit multiple times, we recommend replacing the shield(s). While the shields do not guarantee that the unit will be unharmed in the event of a stray hit, it greatly reduces the likelyhood of serious damage.
